Hello, my name is Ron Davis and I am a senior at the Missouri School of Journalism with an emphasis in Print & Digital Media. Over the past year, I began reporting for the Columbia Missourian, an award-winning newspaper in mid-Missouri.
Though I am relatively new to the news reporting field, I have gotten a lot of experience in my short amount of time. During my time at the Missourian, I have learned to cover high school basketball, baseball, recruiting news. Currently, I am responsible for the Missouri Tigers men’s and women’s basketball beats.
I spent my summer back home in Chicago where I interned for 22nd Century Media, a publication company which produced seven weekly, hyper-local newspapers in the Southwest Suburbs. I had an emphasis in sports reporting, but I branched out to local business, life and arts and human interest stories as well. I also had some experience editing stories during my summer internship.
I started out having a love for sports, and I wanted a career that could allow me to be around it everyday. Once I started as a girls basketball beat writer, I realized that I had a love for writing and reporting. I began my career as a sports reporter, but now I’ve become a well-rounded reporter who’s interested in sports.
